Ligers: Do They Exist?
by Cheyenne
The liger, also known as panthera leo-tigris, is a known mammal made by a male lion and a
female tiger. It is approximately 12 feet standing on its hind legs and weighs from 400 to 700 kg
as an adult. The liger has a lion’s head and the body of a tiger. It is rare for a liger to have a
mane, but this does sometimes happen, though mostly only to males. It has been recorded that a
liger’s maximum speed is 50 mph. Ligers run as fast as leopards. Ligers can reproduce also.
Ligers enjoy swimming because they love the water. I bet that if you had a liger as a pet and you
gave him a bath, he would be in there for hours because he would love it, unlike some other
animals. Ligers are mostly found in South Africa and eastern Asia. There are several Liger
habitats in the U.S.. There are a lot in the U.S, but the most famous ones are in Green bay, WI
and in Chicago, IL.. The zoo police forces are generally mature. They keep their lions and tigers
in different spaces. But some AZA zoos have reported having ligers.
Because many people have never seen ligers, they think that they do not exist. For you
disbelievers, now you know that ligers are real and that they exist. Get to know them by reading
this article because I have told you as much as I can about them.
