Did you know that gorillas can learn to talk in sign language?
By: Kevin

In California there is a gorilla named Koko. She was born on
July 4, 1971 in San Francisco, California. Koko lived most of the time in Woodside.
This gorilla was trained to talk in sign language by Dr. Francine Penny Patterson
and other scientists from Stanford University in California.

It’s hard for gorillas to sign because they have smaller thumbs
than we do. Koko also has the ability to take care of several cats.

If you try to look for gorillas that talk in sign language at your
local zoo, it won’t be possible to find one. This is because there are only two gorillas
that can use it or understand it. Their names are Michael and Koko.
